Il Cucciolo is an organic farm transformed in holiday farm. Historically it was a tobacco farm but went organic in the Eighties and since then it has been producing organic cereals according to a rotating crops system. The organic control is performed by ICEA.
Of the total 25 hectares, 15 are forest and the remaining 10 are agricultural. In the forest there are hiking roads and also a small irrigation lake where our dogs love to swim. In the fall the forest is rich with porcini mushrooms and in the spring as well there are other qualities of eatable mushrooms. Our guest who are passionate about truffle can follow Breon and our dogs in the search for the precious treasure and enjoy a tasting dinner with the truffles just found, according to the season.
On part of the agricultural land we planted olive trees in 2007 as well as many varieties of fruit trees: apple, pear, plum, cherry, apricot, fig and some other autoctone fruit trees. We also have a vegetable garden in the summer. Big part of the land is planted with crops like wheat, sunflowers or other cereals that are sold to the local consortium. We produce jam, olive oil and we sell honey from a local beekeeper (the very expert Maurizio) who positions the beehives on our property.
One hectare of land has been fenced in and divided in several terrace gardens used as dog runs for our guests who bring along their dogs.
